A call for an ‘All-Round Strike In Hollywood’

on-strike-gnomeWas reading an article and actually became hopeful for the morals of this country! People, children mostly, emulate their heroes. It has become a rarity that kids look up to their mothers and fathers when they hit their teens anymore. Sad really, but it has become a reality!

Many well known actors, actresses, and entertainers have called for a strike of Hollywood until President elect Trump resigns. Now, I really try not to get political with this site, because that is not it’s purpose. And I do not intend to start being political now; however, my point is this one question:

If Hollywood went on strike and produced nothing, no movies, no videos, NOTHING, would we as Americans miss out on anything?

Just think about it for a bit…most of the movies that have come out of Hollywood over the past few years have been remakes, remakes of remakes, bad sequels and a few good movies. Although, many movies would not make it if it were not for the special effects, others would not make it if not for the blood and guts, and others wouldn’t make if not for the sexual hedonism portrayed. And of course there are those movies that could not sell one ticket if it were not for the mixture of all three mixed together.

We as Americans, or as American Christians, are charged to influence our children, family members, and friends, as well as neighbors, to be likened to Christ. But if we are sending our kids off to a movie filled with death, destruction, hedonism, and meaningless boundless sex, and yet are acting as a beacon of hope for others are we really doing what Christ would want of us? Are we really following the word of God and living it’s true meaning before others??

This would be my opinionated answer. And it is true. The reality is we have become lazy as parents, lazy as followers of Christ, and lazy as God’s beacons of light and hope to the world. If we are lazy at these tasks then we are less than perfect, if this is so…how truly faithful toward God, His Word, and to Jesus could we possibly be?

I can look back and see many areas of my life as a husband, a father (or step father), as a friend and as a neighbor where I have failed everyone I was suppose to aid in guiding them toward God’s glorious salvation. I will have to answer for that in each and everyone of those instances; so says (possibly) King Solomon:

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.~Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NKJV

I am often facing the sad, but true fact that most of what is on television these days is utter garbage! Sex, drugs, the glorifying of gang or mob mentality, the glorifying of killing indiscriminately, lying, cheating, and I haven’t even spoke of the news casters just yet, either! You cannot trust the news, even Edward Murrow gave us this warning long ago. I think it was put greatest most recently by Denzel Washington in his slamming of the ‘fake news’ fiasco.

I have come to not just appreciate his artwork, but his demeanor, and his integrity as a Christian.

We all have a responsibility, that is a fact and truth of life. Those in the News industry have the responsibility of stating the facts (both good and bad) and allow each of us to make the determination! We as parents have the responsibility to teach our children to have character traits of honest hard working men and women of our society; filling them with integrity that they will not fear standing alone, if necessary for that which is right.

And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.~Deuteronomy 6:6-8 NKJV

We as parents, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors were also given other tasks by Jesus, Himself:

The Great Commandment:

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”~Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV

And, of course, The Great Commission:

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. ~Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV

We are intended to do great things for God, but how can we do these great things if we permit ourselves to remain lazy throughout our lives? If we permit imperfection to be our output, what will God think of us if we do not try to perfect ourselves? Try to perfect our output? If we do not try to perfect what we do, how can we expect God to perfect us through Jesus’ blood and our repentant hearts? What if God just stops helping us because we refuse to do what is expected of us??

Just think about that…

May God Richly Bless You, My Beloved!
